Following the announcement of GreenTech Malaysia’s partnership with Petronas Dagangan (PDB) for the installation of ChargEV charging stations, the collaboration has now seen the launch of a new ChargEV facility at the Petronas station in Solaris Serdang, in Seri Kembangan.
The Petronas Serdang station is one of 10 Petronas outlets which feature a ChargEV electric vehicle charging facility. The other nine Petronas stations are in Solaris Putra, NKVE Damansara, Elite Bukit Jelutong, NKVE Subang, Kesas Timur, Kesas Barat, Genting Sempah, Ayer Keroh (Southbound) and along the Federal Highway (Batu Tiga).
Starting from these initial locations, PDB will continue to install further charging stations along major highways in Peninsular Malaysia, which will come in handy for EV and plug-in hybrid drivers planning out-of-town trips. Up to 66 locations are planned.
The charging point hardware at Petronas stations are New Motion three-phase units, rated at 400V and 22 kW. As seen here, the charging point is located close to the station’s Mesra store.
A ChargEV card is required for activation. Tap the card on the top of the charger unit after plugging your own cable into your car’s charge port; a blue light indicates charging is in progress. Once charge is completed (indicated by green light), tap the card once again before unplugging.
